Opensignal unveils 5G Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2021, saw the greatest improvement in ASEAN markets in Video Experience using 5G. AIS (Thailand) users saw the greatest 5G impact on Video Experience, with a 36.6% better score while streaming videos on their smartphones using 5G compared to 4G, followed by the Philippines’ Globe (32.8%) and Smart (23.4%). Users on all three networks enjoyed an Excellent Video Experience with 5G but not with 4G. Plus, 24 operators saw a 5G boost of over 10% on their users’ Video Experience.

FarEasTone is the sole global winner for 5G Download Speed

With 5G download speeds averaging a blistering 447.8 Mbps, our FarEasTone users in Taiwan enjoyed the fastest 5G Download Speed globally. East Asian telcos dominated the category. Including FarEasTone, four out of the top six operators are from East Asia. South Korea’s SK Telecom’s 417.6 Mbps is the second-fastest, while Taiwanese Chunghwa follows with 391.3 Mbps

 

Chunghwa, FarEasTone and T-Mobile (Netherlands) have the best 5G Video Experience globally

Opensignal’s 5G Video Experience quantifies the quality of video streamed to mobile devices by measuring real-world video streams. Chunghwa, FarEasTone and T-Mobile (Netherlands) are joint global winners for 5G Video Experience scoring 85, 84.8, and 84.4 points, respectively. All three operators place in the Excellent (75 or above) category.

Seven operators are top in 5G Games Experience

All of South Korea’s operators — KT, SK Telecom, and LG U+ — are joint global winners for 5G Games Experience, with statistically tied scores alongside Netherlands’ T-Mobile and KPN, Singapore’s Singtel and Ireland’s Vodafone.

Thailand-specific bullets

  • AIS is a global leader in four out of five categories — 5G Download Speed, 5G Upload Speed, 5G Games Experience and 5G Video Experience. The only category in which it failed to make the top 20 was 5G Availability.
  • AIS has achieved an impressive feat — the operator is in the top 30 for all four measures of 5G Global Impact — the percentage improvement in the download speeds, upload speeds, games experience and video experience observed by Opensignal’s users on an operator’s 5G network compared to that seen on its 4G network. In addition, Opensignal’s AIS users saw the greatest improvement globally — a remarkable 1775.2%  —  when comparing their average 5G download speeds against those on 4G. Also, AIS also came top of the table for Video Experience – 5G Global Impact.
  • Meanwhile, TrueMove H is a global leader in two categories: 5G Availability — the proportion of time that Opensignal 5G users with a 5G subscription were connected to 5G — and 5G Games Experience. It also came close to duplicating AIS’s feat on 5G Global Impact, as placed in the top 30 for all but Download Experience – 5G Global Impact. Opensignal’s TrueMove H users saw the third highest percentage improvement in their games experience — 37.1% — when comparing that seen on 5G connections against 4G.

 

 

Methodology

  • Opensignal’s 5G Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2021 report is divided into two sections — he first analyzes the experience of Opensignal users when connected to 5G at the operator-level globally, across five categories: 5G Availability, 5G Download Speed, 5G Upload Speed, 5G Games Experience and 5G Video Experience. For each category, Opensignal has recognised the top 20 scoring operators — including operators that are statistically tied with the 20th operator, based on confidence intervals. Opensignal has also used confidence intervals to determine the Global Winner or joint Global Winners (in the case of a statistical tie).
  • The second section, 5G Global Impact, assesses the percentage improvement, or uplift, that users’ experience when they connect to 5G compared to older 4G technology. For 5G Global Impact, Opensignal has recognized the top 30 operators around the world for the greatest uplift on four measures of mobile network experience: download speeds, upload speeds, mobile video streaming and multiplayer online gaming.
  • The data used in this report was collected between January, 1, 2021 and June 29, 2021.

ผู้ให้บริการเครือข่ายของเกาหลีใต้ทั้งหมด เช่น KT, SK Telecom และ LG U+ ต่างเป็นผู้ชนะร่วมกันในด้านประสบการณ์เกม 5G เช่นเดียวกับ T-Mobile และ KPN ของเนเธอร์แลนด์ Singtel ของสิงคโปร์และ Vodafone จากไอร์แลนด์ ที่มีคะแนนเสมอกันในทางสถิติ

  • รายงานผลรางวัลประสบการณ์เครือข่ายมือถือ 5G ระดับโลกจาก Opensignal ประจำปี 2564 นั้นแบ่งออกเป็นสองส่วน ได้แก่ การวิเคราะห์จากประสบการณ์ของผู้ใช้ Opensignal เมื่อมีการเชื่อมต่อ 5G บนเครือข่ายผู้ให้บริการระดับโลกในทั้ง 5 หมวดหมู่ต่อไปนี้ ความพร้อมใช้งาน 5G ความเร็วในการดาวน์โหลด 5G ความเร็วในการอัปโหลด 5G ประสบการณ์เกม 5G และประสบการณ์วิดีโอ 5G โดยในแต่ละหมวดหมู่นั้น Opensignal ได้จัดอันดับผู้ให้บริการเครือข่าย 20 อันดับแรกไว้เรียบร้อยแล้ว ซึ่งรวมทั้งผู้ให้บริการที่ได้คะแนนใน 20 อันดับแรก ตามความน่าเชื่อถือ ซึ่ง Opensignal ยังใช้ความเชื่อมั่นเข้ามาช่วยกำหนดผู้ชนะหรือผู้ชนะร่วมระดับโลกนี้อีกด้วย (ในกรณีที่มีคะแนนเสมอกันในทางสถิติ)
